About

Welcome! Let me tell you a bit about myself…

Art has always been an integral part of my life, but it wasn’t until I moved to Detroit, MI in 2006 that I fell in love with plants. After learning to grow my own vegetables and flowers I began identifying and foraging wild plants and learning their uses. I initially worked plants into my textile artwork by harnessing their colors in dyes. I carried plants with me into my work as an art teacher, bringing eco-friendly art projects to students in Detroit Public Schools science classrooms. And in 2017 I pivoted my focus to floral design, making plants the central medium of my work. Since shifting into the event floral industry I’ve greatly increased the scale of my work. There’s something so captivating about transforming an entire space. I use plants, fabrics, sculpture, lighting, and a whole host of materials to change the surroundings and provoke different emotions. As a botanical installation artist I focus my work on topics such as the four seasons, the four elements, and the cardinal directions. I aim to create work that celebrates humans and nature simultaneously and builds a stronger connection between us.
